The City of Lomita has appointed Mark McAvoy as the city’s new Public Works Director. He brings invaluable public and private sector experience to Lomita most recently having served as Project Manager and Construction Engineer at the Caltrop Corporation’s Manteca office, where he oversaw more than 20 Caltrans projects. Known for his determined leadership and keen eye for detail, Mark has been involved in all phases of numerous complex projects including the rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of state highways, walls, and bridges.
Lomita’s new Public Works Director has over 14 years of municipal and public works experience with additional expertise in state and federal funding programs. Before joining Caltrop he served as a Senior Civil Engineer for the cities of Manteca and Lathrop where he specialized in land development and transportation projects. He was appointed City Traffic Engineer in Manteca in 2009, responsible for the city’s growing transportation network.
McAvoy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. He is a registered Civil Engineer with the state of California and a certified Project Manager.
