The Cities of Livermore and Pleasanton have named Ruben Torres, a veteran fire service executive who currently serves as Fire Chief in the City of San Jose, to lead the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
“I am very pleased that Chief Torres will be joining the City’s management team,” stated Livermore City Manager Marc Roberts. “His extensive background in firefighting and public safety coupled with his ability to plan strategically and build community relationships will continue the high quality of service in Livermore and Pleasanton.”
“Ruben Torres brings a vast background in firefighting and public safety to our two cities” according to Pleasanton City Manager Nelson Fialho. “We were impressed with his ability to tackle the complexities and challenges of the tenth largest city in the nation, particularly in the areas of community relations and budget management.”
Ruben leaves his position as Fire Chief and senior command for the San Jose Fire Department, a city he has served for more than 28 years. The tenth largest fire department in the nation with 762 employees and a budget of nearly $200 million, Ruben led the Department through some of that City’s most challenging times.
In response to her clients’ selection Teri Black commented, “Having known and respected Ruben and others who have worked closely with him for a number of years, it’s a true honor to be facilitating his leadership transition to serve two outstanding communities.”
