We are privileged to announce the placement of Andrew Brozyna as Public Works Director for the City of Hermosa Beach. Andrew is a long-time Public Works professional and a licensed Civil Engineer. He assumed his new role at “The Best Little Beach City” on January 27, 2015.
As Assistant Public Works Director in the City of Calabasas, Andrew’s responsibilities included managing the City’s capital improvement program, overseeing public infrastructure improvements as well as supervising maintenance and operations activities. Prior to joining the Calabasas, he gained experience moving up through the public works and engineering ranks in the Cities of Milpitas, Ventura and Santa Barbara after gaining valuable experience in the private sector. His extensive familiarity with aging infrastructure challenges and capital project management will be particularly helpful as Hermosa Beach embarks upon a major sewer upgrade project.
“We’re thrilled that Andrew will be joining our Public Works Department at a time when his experience in categories such as infrastructure improvements and maintenance, particularly with sewers, is greatly needed,” states City Manager Tom Bakaly. “The City will be advancing on a number of projects in 2015, and it’s a perfect time to bring a seasoned professional with impressive and impactful results to Hermosa.”
Andrew received both his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and has held leadership positions on various ASCE committees for more than a decade. As CECE Committee Chair, he co-authored the current “ASCE Guidelines for Engineering Grades.”
