POWAY, CA – We are happy to announce the appointment of Troy Bankston as the new Public Works Director in the City of Poway. Troy began his new job on March 2, 2015. With a career spanning more than 27 years in the public sector, ­Troy’s latest post was Deputy Public Works Director with the County of San Diego where he led a staff of 95 and oversaw an annual operating budget of $45 million.

“Troy’s extensive experience building successful teams, managing large projects and budgets, and working well with residents, the business community as well as elected officials positioned him as an exceptional candidate for this position,” said Teri Black, President & CEO of Teri Black & Company, LLC, an executive recruiting firm specializing in local government placements.

As Public Works Director for the City of Poway, Troy will lead a department of 81 full-time employees responsible for ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of Poway’s public infrastructure. “I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Poway team and look forward to serving the community,” said Troy shortly after his appointment.

Troy earned his Civil Engineering degree from San Diego State University and is also a Registered Professional Civil Engineer.
