We are excited to announce the City of San Carlos City Council’s selection of Kathy Kleinbaum to be their new City Manager.
“Kathy’s experience, collaborative leadership style, and deep knowledge of Peninsula communities make her an outstanding choice to serve as San Carlos’ next City Manager,” said San Carlos Mayor Pranita Venkatesh upon announcing the news. “The Council is excited to welcome her and looks forward to working together to continue advancing our community’s vision for the future.”
Kathy brings 25 years of local government experience across four Bay Area cities, where she advanced through increasingly responsible leadership roles. She previously served as Assistant City Manager for the cities of Belmont and San Mateo, Economic Development Manager in Los Altos, and Senior Project Manager with the City of Oakland Redevelopment Agency. Our candidate earned a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from UC Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in Earth Systems from Stanford.
As City Manager, Kathy will lead 104 employees, manage a total city budget of $129 million, and, among other things, work with the Council and staff to implement an ambitious slate of long-range planning efforts to thoughtfully guide San Carlos through its next era of growth.
