We are pleased to have assisted Redwood City with the selection of Derek Wolfgram as the City’s new Library Director. Currently the Deputy County Librarian with Santa Clara County Library District, he will begin his new role with Redwood City on November 24th.

Derek’s vast background in library administration and innovation made him an idea candidate for Redwood City. “Derek has a rich and wide experience in serving communities through a library system. His range of achievements clearly illustrates his creative and collaborative style, commitment to community building, excellent management skills, and values-driven leadership,” said Bob Bell, City Manager of Redwood City. “We’re extremely pleased that he has agreed to join the Redwood City organization, and lead the way into our Library’s next chapter.”

Among his accomplishments as Santa Clara County’s Deputy County Librarian, Derek was instrumental in developing modern library programs that continue to engage and meet the needs of the community today, including an increase in the library’s literacy program attendance by 44% over the last four years. His continued success is a testimony to his ability to engage all levels of the community, library partners and local government for this common purpose.
