Join us in celebrating the selection of Daniel Peterson to serve as the City of Escondido’s new Utilities Director! Daniel is an accomplished utilities operations professional with more than 15 years of experience managing water, wastewater, and recycled water systems. Throughout his career, he has built a strong foundation in both the technical and policy aspects of the industry and has developed a well-rounded portfolio with experience in customer service, finance, and operations.
Daniel arrives in Escondido from the Santa Margarita Water District where he most recently served as Regulatory and Logistics Manager, supporting a highly complex system serving more than 210,000 residents. He holds a Master’s degree in Water Resource Management from Cal State University Fresno and earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from Cal State Long Beach.
Upon making the announcement, City Manager Sean McGlynn stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Daniel to our team. His experience and commitment to innovation will help us continue providing reliable and sustainable utility services to our community.”
