Burning with excitement is the best way to describe how we felt last week as Mountain View Fire Chief Brian Jones welcomed Joshua Coleman as the Fire Department’s new Deputy Chief. His appointment marks our third senior exec placement in MVFD having also handled the recruitment that led to now retired Chief Juan Diaz being appointed Chief way back in 2015 as well as Brian’s selection to be DC a year later in 2016.
Chief Coleman arrives in the City of Mountain View with 21 years of dedicated fire service in California with the last two decades being largely dedicated to the Santa Cruz Fire Department where he most recently served as a Battalion Chief. Josh is also a Strike Team Leader and has led engine companies in complex mega-fire situations throughout the state.
After being sworn in, Josh shared, “It’s an honor to be entrusted with serving the residents and visitors of the City, but more importantly, the talented members of the Fire Department team.”
Josh holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Cal State Fresno and numerous technical credentials.
