We could not be more honored to join the City of Fremont in celebrating the selection of Matt Cano as the City’s new Public Works Director!
Our candidate has more than 25 years of public sector experience, including serving as Assistant City Manager, Deputy City Manager and Acting City Engineer for the City of Milpitas, where he led citywide operations which included major infrastructure projects and capital improvement programs.
Prior to that, Matt spent 24 years with the City of San José in senior leadership roles, including Director of Public Works/City Engineer. During his time in San José, he held leadership roles on over $1 billion of infrastructure bond programs, oversaw a wide variety of capital improvement programs such as the City’s parks, community center, and trails programs, and expanded local and small business procurement programs.
As a bonus, Matt has been a resident of Fremont for 20+ years and looks forward to serving the community he calls home and building strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
