The City of Escondido has announced the selection of Kevin Snyder as its new Director of Development Services.
Kevin brings more than 33 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, with deep expertise in executive leadership, community planning, and economic development. Known for his collaborative approach, he has led major initiatives in zoning, housing, transportation, and environmental planning, and has managed large operating budgets and multi-million-dollar capital programs.
Most recently, Kevin served as Development Services Director for the City of Chandler, Arizona, where he led a team of 86 professionals and oversaw a $32 million operating budget and a $28 million capital improvement program. He has also held leadership roles in California, Oregon, and Washington.
“We’re excited to welcome Kevin to Escondido,” said Escondido City Manager Sean McGlynn, “His depth of experience and collaborative leadership style will be an asset as we continue to enhance our community and plan for the future.”
Kevin starts in his new role on November 17 and will oversee planning, building, engineering, and code compliance—guiding the City’s vision for responsible growth, revitalization, and long-term sustainability.
He holds a Master of Urban & Regional Planning degree from Portland State University and AICP certification from the American Planning Association.
